Characteristics

The black-winged stilt has distinctive black and white feathers. It has a long, thin, and straight beak, as well as long, red feet.
Habits: The black-winged stilt walks slowly and gracefully and often feeds on fish, small invertebrates, crustaceans, or tadpoles.
Winter/Common, Resident/Uncommon; Body length: 40 cm
Birdwatching period: August-May

Distribution

The black-winged stilt prefers to inhabit ponds and lakes, but also grasses and paddy fields by marshes.
